What Defines My Identity and Personality

Updated: Nov 30, 2022

Personal identity is something that intrigues me and is something I'm passionate about and something I often think about. My favorite books, movies, and music are usually centered around finding one's true identity. We live in a world that is constantly defining various aspects of ourselves. I don't know how many different types of personality tests there are, but I can think of ten off of the top of my head. I know people often identify themselves by their career. Many see themselves through the various roles they play in their family, whether they are a parent, sibling, uncle, aunt, or grandparent. They identify themselves through the interests and hobbies they're passionate about. They identify themselves as other people see them. Maybe they have a nickname for an accomplishment they achieved and they take great pride and personal identity in that name. Many of us identify ourselves through who are our parents, or our family name.

However, what happens when all of that is striped away? What happens when we lose that career? What happens when someone is orphaned? What happens when a passion or interest no longer exists in a person. Things about us change and will continue to change, so who are we despite those aspects of ourselves?

My name is Kelly Davis. I am a wife of a loving and Godly man. I am a step-mom of the two coolest step-kids ever. I have my masters in Library and Information Science and a bachelor's in English. I am a daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and granddaughter, and for 27 years I was a great-granddaughter and I am extremely blessed to have been so for so much of my life. I am a friend. But strip that all away, and I am still one thing. I am a soul that's been saved by the blood of Jesus Christ. This life is my journey, and I am learning as I go. I'm researching life, which is the name of my blog. I don't plan for all of my articles to be this serious and emotional, but I will be posting my thoughts on psychology, theology, Christianity, and philosophy, and then I'm just gonna talk about daily life and the best way I know how to navigate it based on current and reliable research and God's Word.

So, I hope you will decide to join me on this journey, and I hope you gained a fresh perspective and some inspiration from this post.

I love you because you have been beautifully and masterfully made.
